Synthetic bacterium-based glucan nanofilm vaccine enhances antifungal immune protection (IMAGE)
Caption
Engineered E. coli cells assemble glucan nanofilms on their surfaces and display fungal antigen candidalysin to generate an antifungal vaccine. Following vaccination, the engineered bacteria activate Dectin-1-mediated innate immune responses, promote dendritic cell maturation and T cell activation, and enhance pathogen clearance during systemic Candida albicans infection.
