Dormant progenitor cells migrate to fractures and become bone-forming cells (IMAGE)
Caption
(a) Clec3b-labeled cells (red) accumulate at the fracture site during healing. (b) Three weeks after injury, many have become bone-forming osteoblasts (green), contributing to new bone formation. (c) Five weeks after injury, some have also developed into bone marrow stromal cells (green), helping rebuild the bone marrow.
