An artist's depiction of giant impacts that occurred on Mars 4.5 billion years ago. Such impacts free meteorites from the Red Planet. Boston College scientists have determined a meteorite discovered in Algeria in 2019 derived from Mars and is 1.27-billion years old, the team reported recently in the journal Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta.
