While educators and parents may try to pique children’s interest in science with biographies of famous scientists, a new study suggests that certain themes in these books may demotivate — rather than inspire — some young people. The research was led by educational psychology professor Jessica Gladstone, shown here in the Center for Children’s Books at the School of Information Sciences on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.
