Team develops approach for creating efficient catalysts that produce clean hydrogen gas from water (IMAGE)
Caption
A research team constructed a precisely designed polyoxometalate-derived cluster heterostructure and tuned the interface between molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) and vanadium trioxide (V2O3). This process resulted in dramatically accelerated water splitting and H2 production. With this approach, low-cost non-precious metal catalysts can achieve performance close to — or even superior to — expensive platinum catalysts at high current densities.
