Tunnel support loading test for ductile support system (IMAGE)
Caption
A 1/20-scale tunnel support loading test apparatus used to investigate how deformation-accommodating tunnel supports behave under simulated squeezing-ground pressure. The ductile support model, made of young-aged mortar and model yielding elements, was loaded by nine independently controlled screw jacks to reproduce isotropic compressive stress. By measuring load, displacement, and strain, the researchers examined how the installation position of yielding elements affects the deformation pattern of the entire tunnel support system.
