A typical robot intelligence system.

Robot intelligence is divided into four layers: visual perception, decision-making, path planning and control. These layers of intelligence are mediated by sensors, computers, controllers and actuators. Robots are separated into three categories: industrial, service and special, which are designed for highly specialized tasks, such as surgery, surveillance or exploration.
