<Photo> Schematic illustration of the operating principle of the plasmonic-based liquid biopsy platform developed by Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS).
(The platform detects KRAS mutations associated with colorectal cancer using DNA extracted from tumor tissue, blood, and urine samples. While amplification and fluorescence signal generation are suppressed for wild-type KRAS, mutant KRAS is selectively amplified, producing a strong fluorescence signal. This enables highly sensitive detection of trace amounts of KRAS mutations in blood and urine.)
