The official Asteroids2029 logo

Caption

Asteroids2029 is a global peer-led initiative established to amplify the scope and reach of the United Nations International Year of Asteroid Awareness and Planetary Defence. The logo symbolizes the initiative's mission to observe asteroids, explore our Solar System, and safeguard Earth through science, education, planetary defence, and international collaboration. The asteroid's trajectory over the Earth’s horizon represents the close approach of asteroid Apophis in 2029 — a rare opportunity to inspire millions of people around the world to look up, engage with science, and better understand our place in the dynamic Solar System we all share.
