High-resolution molecular typing of Toxoplasma gondii from Chinese wildlife and livestock reveals distinct ToxoDB lineage patterns (IMAGE)
Caption
High-resolution 16-locus MLST of 96 Toxoplasma gondii DNA samples from multiple hosts across China revealed dominance of the ToxoDB#9 lineage with cryptic intra-lineage diversity, high haplotype diversity but limited geographic structuring, and detection of the rare ToxoDB#5 lineage in captive wildlife. These findings support systematic One Health molecular monitoring and future whole-genome sequencing to resolve isolate origins, transmission routes, and recombination.
