Factors that influence the friction of rubber when lubricants are present. (IMAGE)
Caption
Many factors change the friction of rubber in the presence of a lubricant, including rubber tread, sliding conditions, lubricant properties, and the characteristics of the mating surface. Each parameter affects drainage, contact area, hysteresis friction (energy loss that occurs when a rubber material is subjected to cyclic loading and unloading), dewetting and fluid pressure, changing rubber friction.
