Neonatal intestine (IMAGE)
Caption
To reveal the intricate architecture of the neonatal intestine, the team used specific antibodies to stain the delicate proteins that exist between cells and bind cells together during development. These sites of joining are called tight junctions and include the following proteins: e-cadherin (green), zo1 (red) and beta catenin (cyan). The intestine was imaged using a confocal microscope.
