Schematic illustration and TEM morphology image of interface stress-induced cluster formation under high-pressure sintering. (IMAGE)
Caption
Figures 1–4 respectively illustrate the dynamic process of columnar cluster formation, progressing from the mixed powders to grain intergrowth after phase transformation under high pressure. Figure (a) shows the TEM morphology of a sample with sufficient additive (6 wt%) sintered at 1550 °C under 200 MPa. Figures (b)–(e) Higher-magnification TEM images of the boxed region in (a), showing different stages of α-phase particle dissolution and the precipitation and coalescence of β grains. Figure (f) shows the TEM morphology of columnar clusters formed through distortion-induced growth under high pressure for a sample with the same additive content (6 wt%) sintered at 1600 °C under 200 MPa.
