Extending bioplastic lifespan using crab shell by-products

Researchers from Gunma University, Japan, show that crab shell by-products can increase the durability of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), or PHBV, in marine applications by reducing its degradation rate through microbial remodeling of the plastisphere.
