Ethiopia’s cattle have rich genetic diversity due to different environmental conditions, breeds, and geographical isolation. Molecular markers (microsatellites and SNPs) have been instrumental in assessing genetic variability. Preserving this diversity is essential for resilience against diseases and adaptation to climate change. Major challenges are limited access to technology, infrastructure, and policy.
