Newly discovered neural pathway rewards gnawing behavior in rodents (VIDEO)

Univeristy of Michigan researchers have discovered a neural pathway that helps explain the gnawing behavior of rodents. This could also help explain other gnawing behaviors, such as why dogs chew bones or why some people chew their nails. It could also open doors to new ways to treat dental issues in people with conditions that affect their motivation or behavior, including autism spectrum disorder, who are more likely to experience bite misalignment.
