Paraventricular nucleus (IMAGE)
Caption
Borniger lab has found that breast cancer forces neurons (green) in a region of the mouse hypothalamus called the paraventricular nucleus (PVN), seen here, into a hyperactive state. This “always on” state knocks PVN neurons out of rhythm, blunting the body’s stress response to cancer.
