Cheaper, Sustainable Plant Biomanufacturing on Earth and in Space (IMAGE)
Caption
Aquatic plants grown in a lab as part of the new EPiC (Engineered Plants in Culture) project at UC Davis. EPiC will explore technology for growing plants and plant tissues in bioreactors with minimal use of resources. The technology could be used for growing foods or medicines in remote and low-resource environments, including spacecraft. The EPiC project is funded by a new grant from the National Science Foundation.
