The sequential synthesis mechanism involving colloidal solutions of metal ions such as nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) along with benzenehexathiol (BHT) solution can generate highly conductive coordination nanosheets in a selective manner, while limiting the overall reaction to a single phase.
