Synthesis process and electrical properties of ZnO varistor ceramics

ZnO varistor ceramics were synthesised by cold sintering/spark plasma sintering and post-annealing treatment. Intriguingly, the ZnO varistor ceramics present ultrahigh potential gradient, high nonlinear coefficient and low leakage current, which are potential to be the core material of the new generation of high-performance over-voltage protection devices and provide a reliable basis for the safe and stable operation of the power system.
