Pediatric ENT infections are prevalent and one of the most common reasons for antibiotic prescriptions. Turnaround times of conventional culturing assays are long leading to poor clinical management of such conditions. In this study, researchers examine the efficacy of a new microbial cell-free DNA testing method for fast and non-invasive sampling of blood, for quick identification of infection-causing organisms from the bloodstream.
