In an unprecedented new study in the journal Cell Reports, researchers have shown neurotransmitters in the human brain are active during the processing of the emotional content of language, providing new understanding into how people interpret the significance of words. The international research led by Read Montague (center) of the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC involved more than 20 research scientists and physicians, including Seth Batten (left) and William "Matt" Howe of Virginia Tech.
