In order to detect defects in the surfaces of dry fabric and composite prepreg, this new vision-based tactile sensor roller prototype, TacRoller, is a three-colour reflective membrane roller-shape sensor. This new tactile sensor is anticipated to enhance the automation of the hand layup process. Because it allows for real-time quality monitoring, it drastically reduces the need for extensive manual inspections.
