In classical descriptions, the energy loss of high-energy electrons interacting with neutral hydrogen was approximated as an average, with the electron always ending up with an intermediate energy after the interaction. The modified description proposed in this study addresses this issue by more accurately reflecting real-world conditions: it refines the model so that electrons lose little energy during elastic interactions and only lose significant energy (becoming low-energy) during inelastic interactions
