Rupa Valdez’s work focuses on understanding and designing solutions to support the ways in which people manage their health, both at home and in the community. She is an associate editor of the journal Ergonomics and on the Board of Directors for the American Association of People with Disabilities. In addition to many other professional appointments, she is also co-founder and president of Blue Trunk Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving accessible travel. Valdez is a recipient of the prestigious Jack A. Kraft Innovator Award, and the inaugural Inclusion Award for Research from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society in recognition of a career dedicated to addressing health disparities.
