Colored view of the female lower reproductive tract of Drosophila. Uterus in purple, sperm storage and support organs in gold and bronze. The first study of single-cell gene expression in Drosophila uterus reveals more than 20 new cell types with various functions. The discoveries could help understanding of fertility and reproduction both in insects and more generally.
