Researchers manipulated the microbiome of great tits (Parus Major) by feeding them a microorganism known as Lactobacillus kimchicus, which belongs to a group of bacteria that are known to be beneficial to health. The found ound that the gut microbiome affects the health of wild birds, which could impact their survival rates and ultimately population sizes.
