Role of Sae2 protein in regulating nuclease activity during yeast DNA repair. (IMAGE)

Homologous recombination is a DNA repair mechanism that counteracts double-stranded breaks in DNA. Researchers at Kindai University have recently revealed how the Sae2 protein coordinates with the Mre11-Rad50-Xrs2 complex to activate endonuclease and 3'-5' exonuclease during DNA end resection in budding yeast.
