In a survey about knowledge of sexually transmitted infections, a national probability sample of U.S. adults was shown a list of symptoms and asked to choose which among them are usual signs and symptoms of syphilis. All of the listed signs and symptoms are associated with syphilis -- but less than a third of those surveyed selected any of them. From the Annenberg Public Policy Center's ASAPH survey in April 2024.
