A study provides new details about how the brain’s motor cortex reacts when people watch actions by agents that may appear more human, or less.

For postmenopausal patients with ER+/HER2-negative early breast cancer and low Oncotype DX scores, findings from the TAILORx and RxPONDER trials support omitting adjuvant chemotherapy when cancer is node-negative or involves one to three lymph nodes. However, chemotherapy’s benefit remains uncertain for patients with high anatomic risk disease because prospective randomized evidence is limited. The RxFINE-Low (EA1242) trial evaluates whether chemotherapy adds benefit when patients receive endocrine therapy plus a CDK4/6 inhibitor to prevent recurrence. 

Alzheimer’s researcher Sebastian Palmqvist has been awarded USD 19.4 million (SEK 190 million) from the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), through its National Institute on Aging (NIA). The funds are to be used to develop a clinical test based on the biomarker MTBR-tau243. The goal is to develop an FDA-approved blood test within five years that will benefit patients.

The Human Genome Project was launched in 1990, preceded by decades of breakthroughs in genetics. It eventually gave us a sequence of the human genome. Yet, while the physical rules behind the genome’s organization remain an active area of research, many questions are still largely unanswered. Among these is the impact of an omnipresent force influencing life on Earth: gravity. A new study, which appears in the journal Science Advances, addresses some of these weighty questions by using an innovative technique: creating a zero-gravity, or microgravity, environment in order to reveal gravity’s impact on a human cell.
